Edmund Rice Justice, Aotearoa, New Zealand
It is in deep listening to the groaning earth and her suffering people that the Church and Congregation experience God calling them to be agents of change, hope and transformation.
Nairobi Congregation Chapter 2014
Edmund Rice Justice Aotearoa/New Zealand Trust was founded in 2003 by a group of people from within the Edmund Rice Network, who were motivated by issues of social justice and desired to respond to the needs of the times.
The programs include: Volunteers, Restorative Justice in Schools, Prison Reform, Restorative Conference with post sentenced prisons and their victims, Immersions, Street Retreats, Fair Trade, Advocacy and the Rights of the Child.
The aims of the Trust are:
- To provide education and resources regarding social issues that impact on New Zealand and International communities
- To provide seminars that are open to the community to promote a greater understanding of social issues
- To facilitate projects that will work with individuals and families in the community who are identified as being on the margins of society
- To conduct the works of the Trust in a manner that is consistent with the teachings of Edmund Rice and Catholic social teaching
